Traditional Authorities, Youth root for Alhaji Bash as Korle Klottey Municipal Chief Executive

The Traditional Authorities and the youth appealed to President John Dramani Mahama to consider Muhammed Bashiru Nii Narh Alema Dowuona as the next Municipal Chief Executive for Korle Klottey.

The Traditional Authorities and the teeming youth voice out their grievances during a pree briefing in respect of the MMDCE’s nominations ensuring that a native and a royal is appointed for the position of Korle Klottey Municipal Assembly.

Addressing the media at the forecourt of Osu Mantse Palace, the representative of concerned youth of Korle Klottey, Stephen Nii Noi Dowuona appealed to the President to appoint, Muhammed Bashiru Nii Narh Alema Dowuona also known as Alhaji Bash as the Municipal Chief Executive for Korle Klottey.

According to him, appointing Alhaji Bash as the MCE will serve as motivation to them as youths to genuinely contribute their quota and remain loyal to the National Democratic Congress NDC as Alhaji Bash has been supporting not only the party but individuals.

He stated emphatically that the Traditional Authorities including the Dzase and most members of the quarters, the youths of Osu, Adabraka, Tudu, Asylum Down and Odowna are all clamouring for Alhaji Bashiru Nii Narh Alema Dowuona to become the next Korle Klottey Municipal Chief Executive.

Nii Noi Dowuona revealed that in 2020, Alhaji Bashiru was chosen as the campaign manager for the constituency due to his ability to unite all the feuding factions in the constituency adding that during the constituency campaign launch, Alhaji Bash personally donated $1000 to fund the campaign that he was
chairing.

He further revealed that Alhaji Bash spent hundreds of thousands of Ghana cedis to fund the campaign and ensure that he reconciled all the feuding factions within the constituency at a very high cost, before hitting the campaign grounds.

He stated that despite the demands of the factions which were quite outrageous, Alhaji Bash was able to settle and convince them to forge ahead with unity which ermed him a slogan in the constituency ‘Bash Oooo Bash’, the response is ‘Unity Ooo unity’ and the NDC won with a margin of 8000 plus votes.

The youth representative added that Alhaji Bash formed campaign teams in every ward, gave them NDC T shirts, remitting them weekly with stipends, so as to motivate them from his own pocket.

He revealed that, during the 2020 elections, when money for the polling agents delayed, an emergency meeting was held with notable figures like Hon. Zanetor Agyeman Rawlings, Alfred Ato Gaisie, the constituency secretary Eugene Eshun among others which was resolved that Alhaji Bash should fund the entire exercise which he willingly gave out the money and later after the election, a cheque was given to him.

According to him, Alhaji Bash also participated in every EC registration exercise given out ten of thousands cedis to constituency NDC activists, including NDC assembly men, ward coordinators to fish out party members who have attained voting age and also supports the women caucus with money and logistics just to encourage and motivate them in the registration exercise.

Highlighting on his experience and his relations with the grassroots, Nii Noi Dowuona stated that. Alhaji Bashiru Nii Narh Alema Dowuona is the most experienced candidate among those who were shortlisted.

He said Alhaji Bash started his political career as a cell secretary in Tudu Electoral Area, having discovered by the late Tei Okunnor as a brilliant lad, Mr. Okunnor made him the deputy youth organizer for the Osu Klottey constituency, and selected him and one Sammy Okantey to be trained at the Electoral Commission as. trainers of all the constituency’s polling agents in the 1992 general elections.

He revealed that during the 1992 elections, Alhaji Bash acted as a liason officer between the constituency and the national executives at Kokomlemle reporting to the late Hon. Vincent Assiseh and late Hon. Harry Sawyer giving them up to date accounts of the happenings in the constituency.

He stated that Alhaji Bash rose to become the constituency chairman in November 2014 dor four years and through his efforts, the current constituency office was acquired which he made a down payment of ghc2000, before a big man in the party settled the rest of the payment.

He further revealed that Chairman Alhaji Bash furnish the office with office furniture including swivel chairs, office chairs and tables, computer and accessories, air-condition, glass doors and among others with his own pocket money.

He added that year later, Dr Valerie Esther Sawyerr provided the constituency office with the current quality chairs that is still being used.

Nii Noi Dowuona noted that due to Alhaji Bash assembly experience, he was a government appointee for four years and became the sub metro chairman from 2016 to 2017 .

This among others, they said compelled them to come out in their numbers to appealed to the president to reward Alhaji Muhammed Bashiru Nii Narh Alema Dowuona for his loyalty and contribution to the party in the constituency.

He described Alhaji Bash as the third most generous financier of the party in Korle Klottey constituency with Hon. Valerie Esther Sawyer being the leading financier.

‘if all these works, benevolence, service, dedication to the party İs not rewarded, then what is the use of being good to the party, Alhaji Bash has deliberately decided not to mention numerous help he gave to the needy in the constituency as he said it is against his chosen religion to mention the good works that you do for people’ he noted.

Academic Pursuits

He revealed that Alhaji Bash attained his masters degree in logistics management at the Coventry university in England and also has a post graduate diploma in Entrepreneurship
from the Cape Coast University as well as did his first degree at the Wisconsin University College.

“We are therefore appealing to the appointing authorities, to reward loyalty. We have seen a post in circulation and trending online as supposedly the choice of the MP in respect of the MMDCE’s nominations. Should the work of Alhaji Bash go in vain? Are we rewarding loyalty?” he asked.
