Asante Youth Condemn Anti-Igbo Protest Plan — Urge National Unity and Peace

The Concerned Youth of Asante have strongly denounced a planned demonstration targeting members of the Igbo community in Ghana, calling the move divisive and un-Ghanaian.
At a press conference held in the Ashanti Region, the group’s president, Dr. Nana Agyenim Boateng, voiced concern over the rising rhetoric against the Igbo people and urged Ghanaians to uphold the values of peace, unity, and hospitality that define the nation.
“Asanteman has always been a beacon of hospitality, welcoming foreigners and treating them with kindness. Any attempt to sow discord among us is not only unnecessary but unwelcome,” Dr. Boateng declared.
He reaffirmed that the presence of Igbo individuals in Ghana poses no threat and should not be politicized or weaponized.
Instead of engaging in xenophobic protests, Dr. Boateng urged the government to focus on more pressing national priorities, such as securing Ghana’s borders to prevent the entry of criminal elements.
“Let us not turn on our neighbors. Our focus should be on protecting our borders, not targeting those who live peacefully among us,” he advised.
Dr. Boateng also reminded all foreigners residing in Ghana to respect local laws and contribute positively to the development of their communities.
The Concerned Youth of Asante emphasized their unwavering commitment to peaceful coexistence, calling on all Ghanaians to reject hatred and embrace a shared national identity.
“We stand firm in promoting unity and peaceful coexistence. Let us reject hatred and division, and embrace our shared humanity instead,” Dr. Boateng concluded.
The group’s stance echoes a growing chorus of national voices warning against ethnic polarization and affirming Ghana’s legacy of tolerance and inclusion.
