Storm Brewing in Awutu Senya East: NDC Chairman Accused of Plotting Massive Protest Ahead of Asiedu Nketia’s Visit

Information reaching Ghana Palaver 24 indicates that the Constituency Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Awutu Senya East Constituency of the Central Region, Stephen Ofosu Agyare, is allegedly planning a massive demonstration against the sitting Member of Parliament (MP), Hon. Philis Naa Koryoo Okunor, and the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE).
According to reliable and credible sources, the planned protest is expected to take place during the anticipated visit of the NDC National Chairman, Hon. Johnson Asiedu Nketia, to the constituency on Wednesday, February 13, 2026.
Sources reveal that the demonstration is being organized by the NDC Constituency Chairman himself, with the aim of coconting lies and tarnish the headwon reputation of MP, the MCE and other party executives in the constituency.
The protest, if carried out, is expected to draw a significant number of kayayei (head porters) and allegedly hired individuals from other constituencies, a development that could further deepen internal tensions within the party at the constituency level.
Additionally, sources claim that the Constituency Chairman had actively campaigned against Johnson Asiedu Nketia during his bid to contest for the National Chairmanship position.
Some party insiders are viewing the planned demonstration as a possible plot to sabotage the National Chairman’s visit, particularly in light of emerging discussions around his perceived presidential ambitions.
Sources further allege that the NDC Constituency Chairman is in collaboration with some New Patriotic Party (NPP) executives, who are said to be providing their members to participate in the protest against the MP and the MCE.
Further information available to Ghana Palaver 24 suggests that the planned action is deliberate and well-coordinated, and strategically timed to coincide with the National Chairman’s presence in the area in order to draw national attention to the grievances of some party members.
However, loyal members of the NDC in the Awutu Senya East Constituency have warned that such a move, especially during a high-profile party engagement, could undermine party unity and portray the NDC as divided at a time when internal cohesion is critical.
As of the time of filing this report, neither the Constituency Chairman nor the leadership of the party in the Central Region has officially responded to the allegations.
Efforts to reach the offices of the MP, the MCE, and the Constituency Chairman for comment are ongoing.
Ghana Palaver 24 will continue to monitor developments and provide updates as more information becomes available.
