Nab Azantinlow II Urges Enskinment of Builsa Leader in Accra During Community Reception

The Builsa Community in Accra has held a colourful reception in honour of the Paramount Chief of the Builsa Traditional Area, Nab Ayieta Azantinlow Azagsuk II, during his visit to Accra.

The event, marked by rich cultural displays, drumming and dancing, highlighted the Chief’s commitment to unity and peaceful coexistence among the Builsa people in Accra and across the country.

The Builsa Community described Nab Azagsuk II as a peace-loving and unifying leader who consistently preaches harmony, development and collective progress.

The reception was jointly organised by the Bulukbisa Club, the Builsa Ladies Association, and Community Heads of Builsa Communities in Accra.

It brought together prominent personalities from the Builsa enclave, including the Member of Parliament for Builsa North, Mr James Agalga, and the Deputy Minister of Education and MP for Builsa South, Mr Clement Abas Apaak, who joined traditional leaders and tribesmen to honour the Paramount Chief.

The gathering also provided a platform to outline key issues affecting Builsa communities in Accra, as well as broader challenges confronting the Builsa people, with calls for collective action and sustained engagement.

Nab Ayieta Azantinlow Azagsuk II was accompanied by five eminent chiefs, including Wiaga Nab Chuchuluga, Nab Kanjak, Nab Gbedema and Nab Uwasa, adding significant traditional authority to the occasion.

Speaking on behalf of tbe Paramount Chief on the sidelines of the event, the Chairman of the Bulukbisa Club, His Worship, Seth

Aduedem Alafa (rtd.), said the reception was organised after the community learned of the Paramount Chief’s visit to Accra as part of engagements with the Upper East Regional House of Chiefs.

“We felt it was important to organise and have time with our Overlord to listen to his wise words,” he said, adding that the vibrant cultural display reflected northern traditions of celebration and unity.

According to Mr. Alafa, the Paramount Chief expressed appreciation to the community for raising concerns about chieftaincy representation in Accra, noting that the absence of a recognised Builsa chief in the capital posed challenges to organisation and direction.

He said the Chief advised the community to formally write to the Builsa Traditional Council and also seek permission from the Ga Mantse, on whose land they reside, to enable the enskinment of a Builsa chief in Accra.

Mr Alafa said the Paramount Chief further urged Builsa residents in Accra to remain united, love one another and maintain strong ties among themselves, despite being far from their ancestral home.

The Chief also encouraged the community not to forget their roots, stressing the importance of remembering and supporting Builsa land while striving for personal and family progress in the city.

Touching on cultural identity, Nab Azagsuk II cautioned against shying away from one’s heritage.

He cited historical examples, including the story of the ancestry of Ghana’s first Chief Justice, to emphasise the importance of embracing and proudly identifying with one’s origin.

He expressed gratitude to the Builsa Community in Accra for the warm reception and urged them to remain steadfast, united and proud of their Builsa heritage.
