NDC Supporters Rally Behind Leslie Mensah Tamakloe …As Potential Running Mate for John Mahama
Some members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Krobo and the Volta region are fervently endorsing Leslie Mensah Tamakloe, an ICT specialist, as the ideal running mate for the party’s presidential candidate, John Dramani Mahama, in the upcoming 2024 general election.
The anticipation surrounding John Mahama’s announcement of his running mate before the end of the next week has created a buzz within the NDC community. While some expect Mahama to maintain his former running mate, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku Agyeman, others are advocating for a fresh perspective, with Leslie Mensah Tamakloe emerging as a prominent contender.
The NDC Eagle Eye, a group comprising grassroots members from the Volta and Eastern regions, has actively campaigned for Tamakloe during John Mahama’s “Ghana we want” tour to Odumase Krobo. Members of the group brandished placards urging Mahama to consider Tamakloe as his running mate.
Ishmeal Mensah, the spokesperson for the NDC Eagle Eye, expressed confidence in Tamakloe’s ability to enhance the party’s chances in the election. Describing him as a grassroots man with notable achievements, Mensah highlighted Tamakloe’s contribution to connecting the first internet service in Ghana and his extensive experience in various capacities.
“The NDC’s chances to win the election are high with Leslie Mensah Tamakloe because he is a grassroots man in addition to his high achievements.”
Members of the group shared their thoughts, emphasizing Tamakloe’s grassroots involvement, background as a strategist and activist, and his roles in various key positions within the party and government.
Leslie Mensah Tamakloe, beyond his political contributions, has an impressive professional track record. He engineered and connected the first internet service into Ghana through his company, InternetGhana Co Ltd. He also holds positions in other notable companies, such as ElectromodSolar and DataMatrix Co Ltd. Tamakloe’s extensive experience includes serving as a World Bank Consultant on ICT for the NHIS Project and promoting over US$ 10 billion worth of projects for Ghana’s infrastructural development.
With his background as a cadre from the PNDC era, special ICT consultant to GIFEC, Board Chairman for Metro Mass Transit, and a key member of election results collation teams for NDC since 2008, Tamakloe has positioned himself as a multifaceted and experienced candidate. As the NDC eagerly awaits Mahama’s decision, the support for Leslie Mensah Tamakloe continues to grow among the party faithful.
