The Chief of Agona Kwaman in the Central Region, Nana Opaaku Yeboah VI has urged the youth to live meaningful life devoid of negative social vices.
Speaking at the celebration of this Year’s Annual Akwambo Festival of the town on the theme: “The Youth, Our Future”, Nana Opaaku Yeboah noted that youth delinquency remains a major challenge confronting the Ghanaian society, as majority of the country’s youth who are regarded as the future leaders have resorted to wayward life, engaging in negative social vices such as armed robbery, drug abuse and internet fraud which has become popularly known as ‘sakawa’.
According to the Chief, to be able to combat the growing menace, society has to engage and educate the youth about the consequences of these social vices,, and the need to refrain from them.
The occasion was used to raise funds for the construction of a durbar ground estimated at a cost of over GH 70,000.00 Cedis through levies.
In a related development, the Chief of Nkubeaseman (Mahodwe) in Agona Swedru and Gyaasehen of the Agona Nyakrom Traditional Area, Nana Kwame Donkor V has appealed to parents to show concern about the kind of life their children, particularly the youth lead, by monitoring the kind of friends the associate with.
Nana Kwame Donkor who spoke to africanewsarena.com, come during the celebrattion of this year’s Annual Akwambo Festival of the town expressed worry about the increasing wayward lifestyle among majority of the country youth, and blamed the situation on the neglect by parents to control their children.
