Ankobeahemaa Called On Queen Mothers To Promotes Peace Ahead Of Elections

The Ankobeahemaa of Aseseeso Akuapim, Nana Aku Sika Okani has called on fellow Queen mothers to add their voice to the call for unity ahead of the December polls.

Nana Aku sika described women as powerful people who have influence on their men and children and therefore there is the need for their participation in advocacy for peace before, during and after the general elections.

The Ankobeahemaa said this during a dinner by the International Association of World Peace Advocate held at the National Theater in Accra where she was appointed as United Nations Peace Ambassador in Ghana.

She emphasized on the need for her fellow Queen Mothers to pray unceasingly for mother Ghana for peace to prevail during and after the elections.

She admonished them not to undermine the powers of prayer in nation building.

She revealed that she will use her new role as Peace Ambassador to bring together the various women groups in the country to enlighten them on the need to promote peace particularly in this year’s election.

This among others she said will guide the women groups to preach peace to others in their various communities and become peace ambassadors.

She added that preaching peace without praying will not be enough to achieve the needed goal rather prayers is the only means to solving myriad of problems of the nation.

She used the opportunity to appealed to the Electoral Commission of Ghana to gather courage in the discharge its duty without fear.

She urged them to be transparent and provide a level playing grounds for all the qualified candidates so as to help achieve the peace Ghanaians are praying for before, during and after the elections.
