Hawa Koomson, EC Accused Of Plotting To Rig Voters’ Register In ASEC

The Parliamentary Candidate for Awutu Senya East Constituency, Philllis Naa Koryoo Okunor has accused the incumbent Member of Parliament Hon. Hawa Koomson of plotting with the Electoral Commission to tamper with the voters’ register at ASEC.

In a statement signed by the NDC Parliamentary Candidate Philllis Naa Koryoo Okunor, she accused Hon. Hawa Koomson and the EC of tampering with the democracy’s foundation – the voters’ register.

According to her the EC and Hawa Koomson have inflated the roll with 1,950 unexplained names, setting the stage for electoral fraud on an unprecedented scale.

She revealed that between 2023 and 2024, the constituency’s voters’ register grew by 11,297 and after accounting for legitimate transfers and registrations, 1,950 names remain unexplained with ghost voters inserted to give NPP an unfair advantage in constituency.

This she said are not minor mistake, but a premeditated act of sabotage to keep NPP in power adding that the EC’s silence and complicity are equally disturbing which demand answers.

Philllis Naa Koryoo Okunor called for immediate independent audit of the bloated voters’ register in Awutu Senya East constituency and transparency from the Electoral Commission.

She further called for removal of illegitimate voters in Asec before the elections.

“This is a battle for our democracy’s soul. Together, we can stop this rigging and ensure a free and fair election in Asec”.
