Alleged Recruitment of Bloggers to Undermine ASEC MCE Backfires; Constituency Chair Accused

Tensions are mounting within the Awutu Senya East Constituency of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) following allegations that the party’s Constituency Chairman allegedly engaged bloggers and journalists to discredit the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Awutu Senya East.
Concerned members of the party have expressed deep worry over what they describe as deliberate efforts by the Chairman to undermine not only the MCE but the collective image and unity of the NDC in the constituency.
According to them, such actions risk weakening the party’s grassroots strength and public confidence at a critical time.
Sources within the constituency allege that on Tuesday, the Chairman convened a meeting with selected journalists and bloggers, allegedly seeking to use their platforms to portray the MCE in a negative light and question his performance in office.
However, the move is said to have backfired after details of the meeting became known to party members.
The alleged scheme reportedly comes in the wake of a recent caution by Hon. Ahmed Ibrahim, the Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, who warned that underperforming Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) could face dismissal in the coming month.
Party insiders believe the Chairman may be exploiting the Minister’s directive to advance personal interests.
The Awutu Senya East NDC Constituency Chairman is said to have had ongoing disagreements with the MCE, the Member of Parliament, and some Constituency Executives.
Sources claim he opposed the MCE’s nomination, preferring another candidate for the role.
Party members are therefore calling for calm and internal dialogue to resolve the matter before it escalates further.
They emphasised that internal disputes must not be allowed to derail development efforts in the municipality or damage the party’s reputation ahead of upcoming political activities.
Efforts to reach the Chairman for comment were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report.
