Bitfiasi Celebrates the Graduation of Its First Bitcoin for Beginners Cohort

Bitfiasi Initiative has once again demonstrated its commitment to empowering African women through education and innovation. On Saturday, 30th November, 2024, the iSpace Foundation in East Legon, Accra, came alive with energy as the much-anticipated graduation ceremony for the Bitcoin for Beginners class unfolded.

The event, themed “A Bitcoin Celebration for Women” opened with an engaging fireside chat led by the Executive Director, Gideon Kombian, alongside Sika Ayiwa, the Master of Ceremonies.

Gideon shared the inspiring story behind Bitfiasi’s formation, elaborated on its aims and vision, and provided valuable insights into the pivotal role of women in driving Bitcoin adoption across Africa.

Key Highlights

The audience was deeply engaged by a keynote address delivered by Awura Abena Amponsah, who spoke on “Breaking Barriers: Women Shaping the Bitcoin Revolution.” Her powerful words highlighted the significant contributions of women in the Bitcoin space and their ability to shape the future of finance.

Building on the momentum, Tali Lindberg, a renowned advocate for money and Bitcoin literacy from Louisville, Kentucky, USA, joined the event virtually. In an insightful session, she shared her expertise and outlined actionable strategies for women to leverage Bitcoin effectively to achieve greater financial independence.

The event also celebrated the achievements of the 16 graduates who completed the 8-week Bitcoin course.

Many of them shared heartfelt testimonials, emphasizing how the program broadened their perspectives and equipped them with practical skills to confidently embark on their Bitcoin journey.

The program also featured an engaging panel discussion where industry experts explored the intersection of Bitcoin technology, education, and entrepreneurship. Panelists shared valuable perspectives on overcoming challenges and harnessing opportunities.

An inspiring commencement address was delivered by Akosua Naana Lexis Agyeman, titled “Developing the Mindset of a Lifelong Learner.” Her message underscored the importance of curiosity and resilience in navigating an ever-changing world.

A highlight of the event was the interactive workshop led by Edward Amewu, CTO of Bitnob Technologies, which provided participants with hands-on insights into Bitcoin’s real-world applications and various saving strategies.

Attendees also engaged in vibrant discussions, networking opportunities, and a session exploring the latest innovations in Bitcoin technology. These moments fostered an atmosphere of collaboration and excitement, leaving participants motivated and inspired.

The event concluded with Lydia Sena Ami Kudowor, Programs Director, presenting a vision for the future.
