Concerned Ada Citizens Forum Urges Minister, NHC To Act On Petition Against Nene Tetteh Lanuer Okumo IV
A group calling itself Concerned Ada Citizens Forum (CACF) has called on the Minister for Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Mr. Asamoah Boateng and the National House of Chiefs to act on its petition regarding accusation of misconduct against one Nene Tetteh Lanuer Okumo IV, Divisional Chief (Wetsoyi) of Dangmebiawe Clan of Ada.
According to the forum it has been over a month since it petitioned the ministry of chieftaincy affairs and the regional and national house of chiefs over allegation made against the chief but nothing has since been heard.
The group wants the chief sanctioned by the ministry and the regional and national houses over allegation that the chief defrauded one Nene Tettey Nyabu II, Chief of Luhuor of an amount of GH₵40,000.00 when he was the Chairman for a three-member Judicial Committee on a Chieftaincy case between Nomo Etse Enoch Odorkor Nyabu Lawful Attorney of Nomo Emmanuel Nyabu Vrs Samuel Tetteh Ofoe.
The group had claimed in their petition to the ministry of chieftaincy affairs that the chief allegedly collected the money in two tranches from the other chief to give judgement in his favour which was not honoured.
They therefore want investigations to be carried out and the necessary sanctions applied.
A statement issued by the Concerned Ada Citizens Forum signed by its President, Zebulon Okudzeto claimed that, “On 17th May, 2024 for over a month now, the Concerned Ada Citizens Forum have petitioned the various institutions in Ghana such as;
1. Minister for Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs.
2. The President for National House of Chiefs, Kumasi.
3. The President for Regional House of Chiefs – Dodowa.
4. The President and Paramount Chief for Ada Traditional Council against Nene Tetteh Lanuer Okumo IV, Divisional Chief (Wetsoyi) of Dangmebiawe Clan of Ada for various misconducts, and call for sanction especially for defrauding Nene Tettey Nyabu II, Chief of Luhuor an amount of GH₵40,000.00 when he was a Chairman for Three – Panel Member Judicial Committee on a Chieftaincy case”.
5.
The statement noted that the “same defrauding case and complaint was lodged at the Ada Divisional Police Headquarters when Nene Tetteh Lanuer Okumo IV was invited by the Ada Divisional Police as suspect for the allegation of defrauding Nene Tettey Nyabu II GH₵40,000.00 and it was same premises his Prado GE 1304-23 was seized by the Tema Circuit Court for defaulting in payment of judgment debt of GH₵53,600.00”.
The group expressed alarm that no action by way of investigation and sanction instituted since its petition to ascertain the truth or otherwise of the allegation and necessary sanctions applied as necessary saying, “The big question the Concern Ada Citizens Forum is asking the government is that, is our various institutions named-above in Ghana working or they are there for fun?
Attempts by this paper to get a response from the chief proved futile as at the time of going to press, but a close aide who pleaded anonymity rubbished the claims by the concerned forum as false and the petition baseless.
