Controller Pays Delayed Allowances, December Salaries for Education Workers

The Controller and Accountant-General’s Department (CAGD) has settled the delayed allowances of education sector workers together with their December 2025 salaries.

Although the department had earlier announced that the outstanding payments would be made alongside December salaries on Wednesday, it confirmed to Graphic Online that the payments were actually processed and effected last Tuesday.

In a statement issued in November, the CAGD explained that the payment of two categories of education sector allowances, initially scheduled for November 2025, had been deferred due to a technical challenge encountered during the payroll process.

The department noted that the temporary suspension of the allowance payments was a deliberate measure aimed at preventing any disruption to the November 2025 salary payments of all Government of Ghana workers.

The CAGD apologised for the inconvenience caused by the delay and reiterated its commitment to strengthening payroll systems to avoid similar challenges in the future. It also expressed appreciation to affected education workers for their patience and cooperation throughout the period.

Last month, the CAGD announced the rescheduling of two categories of education sector allowances from November 2025 following a technical hitch during the final payroll run. The department assured affected workers that the issue was being resolved and that all outstanding allowances would be paid together with December 2025 salaries.
