Dr. Orleans-Lindsay Appointed First Chancellor Of Cape Coast Technical University

The Governing Council of Cape Coast Technical University has announced the appointment of Dr. James Orleans-Lindsay, Executive Chairman of JL Holdings Ghana, as the institution’s first Chancellor. His appointment, which takes effect from October 1, 2024, will run until September 30, 2029.

A statement from the University’s Directorate of Public Affairs highlighted Dr. Orleans-Lindsay’s rich blend of entrepreneurial and academic qualifications. He is the CEO of JL Properties, with business interests spanning real estate, agriculture, and other sectors.

Dr. Orleans-Lindsay’s exemplary leadership was recently recognized when he was named Business Personality of the Year 2023 at the 11th Made in Ghana Awards, a testament to his transformational impact on Ghana’s real estate industry. His visionary efforts have notably turned the former Achimota dumpsite/quarry into one of the country’s cleanest gated communities.

With numerous awards under his belt, Dr. Orleans-Lindsay is celebrated for his innovation, leadership, and dedication to positive social impact. He currently serves on the Board of Governors of All Nations University.

Dr. Orleans-Lindsay is an alumnus of St. Peter’s Senior Secondary School and St. Augustine’s College, Cape Coast. He holds a BSc in Biochemistry from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), an MSc in Construction Management from the University of Salford, and a PhD in Construction Management from the University of Hertfordshire. He also earned a Certification in Real Estate Finance from the London School of Economics and Political Science.

Additionally, he has a certificate in Real Estate from Said Business School in Oxford University.

Beyond his academic pursuits, he holds a CAF A’ Coaching Certificate.

Widely regarded as one of Ghana’s most influential business leaders, Dr. Orleans-Lindsay has built a business empire that spans multiple sectors, including construction, beverages, security, and agriculture. His companies have a global footprint, with operations in Portugal, Malta, the United Kingdom, Ivory Coast, Sierra Leone, and Nigeria.

A TEDx speaker and former President of the Ghana Association of Young Entrepreneurs, he also served on the board of Accra Hearts of Oak Football Club. Additionally, he is the Chief Patron of the Cape Coast Youth Development Association.

A devout Christian, Dr. Orleans-Lindsay is married to Nana Ama Abrefi Lindsay, and he is a father of four.
