The Eze Ndigbo of Ghana, His Royal Majesty Eze Dr. Chukwudi Ihenetu, has lauded the recent traditional recognition accorded to Ghana’s President, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, by the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II.

President Mahama was honoured in Ile-Ife, Nigeria, the historic cradle of Yoruba civilization, where he received the distinguished title Aare Atayeto Oodua of the Source. The title, rooted in Yoruba cultural heritage, celebrates leadership that is transformative, far-reaching, and dedicated to the service of humanity.

In a statement issued to mark the occasion, Eze Dr. Ihenetu described the honour as a testament to President Mahama’s influence beyond Ghana’s borders and his consistent advocacy for inclusive governance, regional cooperation, and African solidarity.

The Igbo leader noted that such recognition from a foremost African traditional authority reflects growing appreciation for leaders who prioritise unity, dialogue, and sustainable development across the continent. He added that President Mahama’s public service record continues to resonate with diverse communities within and outside Africa.

Eze Ihenetu further highlighted the significance of the gesture as a powerful symbol of cultural diplomacy, demonstrating how Africa’s traditional institutions remain relevant in acknowledging leadership that fosters harmony and collective progress.
