Klagon Homowo Festival; Dzaasete Nii Bortey Abɛku Calls For Unity And Peace Ahead of 2024 Elections
Nii Bortey Abɛku I, the Dzaasetse of the Klgon Divisional Council one of the divisions under the Nungua Traditional Area, has called for peace and unity amongst Ghanaians in the run-up to the 2024 general elections. Nii Abɛku I who was speaking during the maiden Homowo sprinkling rites held by the chiefs and people of Klagon over the weekend, expressed concern about the political tension being witnessed in the country as the December 7th election draws nigh.
He called on politicians to see the Ghanaian youths as future leaders of the country who need direction and guidance hitherto the need to provide them with working opportunities and not using them as a tool for political violence during election period.
The maiden Klagon Homowo sprinkling rites by the chiefs and people of Klagon was heavily involved by natives of the area. A procession led by Nii Dzaasetse Abɛku I roamed through communities and landmarks within the Klagon township amidst chanting of war songs where the Dzaasetse offered Kpoikpoi to their deities and ancestors as a sign of hooting at hunger from the township.
The procession later made a stop at the Klagon Mantse’s Palace, where the chief of Klagon Nii Bortey Klan I, offered his blessings to his subordinates while calling for peace and unity amongst his people as they sought to bring development to the Klagon township.
Organizers of this year’s Klagon Homowo procession rites who described the program as entirely successful, have promised a more bigger package come next year with a focus on youth and community development.
