Madina Teachers to Gain International Exposure Through New Exchange Program

The office of the MP for Madina, Lawyer Francis Xavier-Sosu, has announced an exciting new addition to the Sosu Teacher’s Award: an international exchange program for future winners.

Starting from the next edition, top-performing teachers will have the chance to experience educational systems in countries like France and Switzerland.

This initiative aims to provide educators with new insights, teaching methods, and global best practices that they can bring back to Ghana to enhance learning in their classrooms.

The announcement follows a successful second edition of the Sosu Teacher’s Award, which celebrated outstanding educators in the Madina municipality. This year’s top honor went to a dedicated teacher from Bethany Home Academy in Madina Zongo, who was awarded a brand-new car for her innovative teaching methods that have made education more appealing to children in the community.

Second place was awarded to Madam Martha Nadia Gbeve, headmistress of Pantang Basic School, who was recognized for her creative approach to using waste as a learning tool. She received a brand-new motorcycle for her efforts. Third place went to Madam Celestine Akos Yeboah, who was honored for her work in promoting reading and discipline among students.

The awards also highlighted the crucial roles of non-teaching staff, with three exceptional individuals recognized for their dedication to supporting education in Madina. They received various prizes, including fridges and other gifts, underscoring their invaluable contributions to the educational system.

The Swiss Ambassador to Ghana, Simone Giger, commended the addition of the exchange program, praising the role of teachers in shaping future generations. “Teachers are the cornerstone of society, and opportunities like this empower them to unlock their full potential,” she said.

With the new exchange program, the Sosu Teacher’s Award continues to innovate, inspiring teachers in Madina to strive for excellence while fostering a global perspective in education.
