Manhean Zongo Chief, Sarki Ahmed Abdul-Kadir Ahmed Abdul-Kadir has commended the Chief and the Wolumo of Manhean a suburb of Accra in the Ga West Municipality for ensuring a peaceful ritual to run off the ban on drumming and noise making.
He further commended the Muslim and the Christian communities for their roles in ensuring peace, unity and development in the Manhean community.
The Manhean Zongo Chief also commended the good people of Manhean especially the non Ga-Adangbes for adhering to the directives of the Manhean Traditional Council during the one month period and expressed gratitude to the Asafoatsemei for measures put in place to ensure adherence to the directives.
He pledged to ensure peace and unity between the Muslim and the Christian communities and the Ga people in Manhean.
According to him a cleanup exercise will be organized as part of activities marking the upcoming Homowo festival and advised the youth to actively participate in all communal activities and to avoid social vices such as drugs and alcoholism.
“I wish all Gas in Manhean happy Homowo celebration in advance, Gamei afio afi.afi aye ni eba nina wo”. He concluded.
It will be recall that the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) announced that this year’s ban on drumming and noise-making will commence from May 10 and end on June 10.
The AMA set out some guidelines in the interest of peace, harmony and national security.
Religious bodies and traditional authorities were advised to show respect to one another and restrain their followers from making derogatory and inflammatory remarks about the beliefs and practices of one another.
