Whilst we await anymore episode(s) from the Fourth Estate if any, we want to draw the attention of the Presidency, Security Agencies and Regulatory Bodies to certain happenings within the health sector through questions.
In the video , the neurosurgeon(s) stopped the use of the Axis pharmacy request form and so what is being used now? Is everything on those written request forms implants? What about accessories and consumables? In the Perfect Sunday case, was implant used?
- We are told that the Axis pharmacy request form left at Ridge Hospital was souvenir and so does that compel usage? Is the current Director General of GHS (a former ICD Director of GHS ) going to allow/ tolerate the use of various private forms within GHS facilities? Again what prevented the team from designing one for approval and subsequent use?
- Did the investigation find out how long the placement of the Axis pharmacy request form has been going on at Ridge Hospital? Which other healthy facilities have Axis pharmacy given such request forms to ? If it is only Ridge Hospital, then why Ridge ? It is akin to sole sourcing in procurement.

- So the current Director General of GHS wants us to believe that he did not know that needed surgical items were written on Axis pharmacy request form? then he should not come up with the “ souvenir issue”. In the video.
- The current Director General of GHS never questioned the supply source of items requested as due diligence for duty of care owed patients?
- Has the current Director General of GHS never seen the said junior doctor writing on the Axis Pharmacy form before?
- The outcomes of all surgeries related to Axis pharmacy request forms must be investigated and the findings made public . Also a comparative case by case analysis of neurosurgery (especially brain surgery)outcomes of Ridge Hospital and 3 other hospitals should be done and the findings made public.

- Interestingly, was the current Medical Director of Ridge Hospital who appeared in the video invited and interviewed by the investigation committee? If no, why? Did one of the cases not occur in his tenure?
- There is a call for accountabilty and transparency with the procurement of equipment and surgical consumables for the separation of the Siamese Twin at the Ridge Hospital. Has there been petition(s) on the Siamese twin equipment and surgical consumables procurement? what is happening? Are the surgeries for the project done? If not where are the left overs and has there been an audit on it ? What is the clinical state of the surviving twin(because surgeries are judged by outcomes) ?
The current Director General (DG) of the Ghana Health Service (GHS) who was the technical lead should provide some answers. The colossal amount put in by government and the private sector cannot be swept under the carpet without accountability in a transparent manner.
