Multiple Police Reports Expose “Akwanye/Incantation” & Mawrehene In Adjiringanor Land Saga
The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service has released a comprehensive report detailing the ongoing legal and physical conflicts over a parcel of land at Adjiringanor, Accra.
The report, dated August 28, 2024, reveals a series of events involving multiple parties, including allegations of trespass, use of force, and employment of land guards.
It established that on December 13, 2023, Simon Tetteh Akuaku, representing Tredstone Empire Limited, filed a petition with the Property Frauds Unit of the Ghana Police Service concerning the “Prohibition of Activities of Land Guards.”
The petition was against Nana Ofori and others concerning a parcel of land at Adjiringanor.
According to Mr. Akuaku, Tredstone Empire Limited had been granted possession of the land by the Adenta High Court.
However, Nana Ofori and his associates forcibly entered the property, threatened the company’s caretakers, and obstructed further development of the land.
To substantiate their claim, Tredstone Empire Limited provided the police with documents, including a land certificate in the name of Asadar Enterprise Limited, an indenture between Asadar Enterprise Limited and Tredstone Empire Limited, a High Court judgment, a writ of possession, a court execution report, and other court-related paperwork.
Following the complaint, police officers visited the site and discovered 20 uncompleted stores and an uncompleted storey building on the land.
The complainant identified Abdul Razak Jallo and Alhassan Yakubu as land guards living in the uncompleted building.
Both men were arrested, and during questioning, they named Mohammed Bashiru as the individual who had placed them there to guard the property.
Further police investigations led to the arrests of Mohammed Bashiru, Cletus Akoglo, and Dwamena Bayor, who were also found guarding the land.In his statement, Mohammed Bashiru claimed that he had been hired by Jesse Aggrey, the son of Joseph Kweku Aggrey, to protect the parcel of land.
Findings from the Police Investigation revealed that the late Joyce Baffoe-Boakye had leased 0.913 acres of land at Adjiringanor to Joseph Kweku Aggrey on February 23, 2001, who subsequently constructed an eight-bedroom uncompleted storey building and 20 uncompleted stores on the land.
In December 2021, Tredstone Empire Limited initiated legal proceedings against Joyce Baffoe-Bonnie Boakye for the recovery of possession of the land.
The Adenta High Court ruled in favor of Tredstone Empire Limited on February 20, 2023, and granted a writ of possession on June 26, 2023. A bailiff subsequently took possession of the land and handed it over to Tredstone Empire Limited on July 21, 2023.
However, on September 20, 2023, Joseph Kweku Aggrey filed an unsuccessful application challenging the judgment at the High Court, Adenta. Despite multiple attempts, he was unable to overturn the ruling in his favor.
In February and March 2024, five suspects — Abdul Razak Jallo, Alhassan Yakubu, Mohammed Bashiru, Dwamena Bayor, and Cletus Akoglo — were arrested on the land for guarding the property at the behest of Joseph Kweku Aggrey.
They have since been charged with conspiracy to prohibit the activities of land guards and will be arraigned before the court.
Additional Report from the Accra Regional Police Command indicated that on July 24, 2024, Eric Nortey reported that an excavator was brought onto the disputed land to demolish his father Joseph Kweku Aggrey’s building without a lawful order.
Police officers arrived on the scene to find several individuals, including Simon Tetteh Akuaku, Luther Djan, Bismark Bing, Boateng Emmanuel Adjei, Marthin Agyekum, and Offei Isaac, demolishing the building.
These individuals claimed they were working on behalf of Tredstone Empire Limited.
In response, Joseph Kweku Aggrey submitted land documents, including two indentures dated February 23, 2001, and October 18, 2019, and a High Court judgment dated February 20, 2023, along with the death certificate of Joyce B.B. Boakye and her obituary. Tredstone Empire Limited, represented by Dr. H.K. Dawson, also submitted documents asserting their claim to the land, including an indenture, court judgment, and a recovery of possession order from the same suit.
Meanwhile, the Adenta District Police further reported on November 30, 2023, that two witnesses informed them about an incident on November 27, 2023, involving a suspect named “Akwanye” and a group of men believed to be land guards who attempted to stop construction work on the land.
Upon further investigation, the police invited Nana Antwi Boasiako, who is alleged to go by the name “Akwanye.”
Boasiako denied any involvement in the dispute, clarified that “Akwanye” was not his name, and stated his true identity as Nana Ofori Antwi Boasiako, also known as “Incantation.”
He admitted to being aware of the ongoing litigation between Tredstone Empire Limited and Joseph Kweku Aggrey over the disputed land but maintained that he had no involvement in the conflict.
The police investigations have revealed a complex legal battle over the ownership of the land at Adjiringanor.
The suspects arrested for guarding the land have been charged and are set to face court proceedings.
Meanwhile, the multiple court actions filed by Joseph Kweku Aggrey have yet to overturn the initial ruling in favor of Tredstone Empire Limited.
The situation remains tense, with both parties asserting their claims over the disputed property.
The Ghana Police Service continues to monitor developments and enforce the law in this ongoing dispute.
