NPP Council of Elders Congratulates Osei-Owusu Over Peaceful 2026 Presidential Primaries

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Council of Elders has formally congratulated the Chairman of the Party’s Presidential Elections Committee, Hon. Joseph Osei-Owusu, for what it described as the successful and transparent conduct of the 2026 Presidential Primaries.
In a letter dated February 4, 2026, and signed by Hon. Hackman Owusu-Agyemang, Abusuapanyin and Chairman of the National Council of Elders, the Council praised Osei-Owusu and his committee for overseeing a process marked by fairness, professionalism and credibility.
The Council noted that the primaries were conducted in a free, orderly and transparent manner—from the nomination stage through voting and the declaration of results—without disputes or grievances from any of the aspirants or their supporters.
According to the letter, the Committee’s inclusive approach, which ensured continuous engagement with all aspirants, played a crucial role in promoting clarity and general acceptance of the outcome.
“The smooth and peaceful conduct of the primaries has once again demonstrated the strength of the New Patriotic Party’s internal democratic processes,” the statement said, adding that the exercise has reinforced unity and confidence within the Party.
The Council of Elders also commended the Committee for its responsiveness to institutional counsel and its willingness to engage the Council when called upon. It expressed appreciation for what it described as openness to advice and guidance in the supreme interest of the Party.
The letter was copied to the Acting National Chairman and the General Secretary of the Party.
The successful organisation of the primaries is expected to position the NPP strongly ahead of the 2026 general elections, as the party consolidates internal unity following the closely watched contest.
