Okyeman Traditional Council constitutes three-member panel to adjudicate Asiakwahene legitimacy petition

The Okyeman Traditional Council has appointed a three-member panel to oversee a petition challenging the legitimacy and enstoolment of the current Asiakwahene and Nifahene of the Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Area, Daasebre Twum-Ampofo II.

The panel was announced during the Okyeman Council Meeting held at Ofori Panin Fie in Kyebi on Friday, March 27, 2027. State Secretary Nana Marfo Ofori Atta emphasized that the council is committed to a fair and firm process aimed at restoring tradition and strengthening trust in the chieftaincy of Akyem Abuakwa.

The panel members are:

Okyeman Twafohene, Okatakyie Ababio Boakye Danquah
Akyem Tafohene, Daasebre Adusei Peasah IV
Ahenenanahene of Kyebi, Barima Kwaku Dua

The Asiakwa Barekese Royal Family, led by the current Queen Mother of Asiakwa and recognized as the legitimate royal lineage of the Asiakwa Stool, expressed profound appreciation to Okyenhene Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori-Panin, Okyenhemaa Nana Adutwumawaa Dokua, and the Okyeman Traditional Council for constituting the panel.

The petition asserts that the nomination and enstoolment of Daasebre Twum-Ampofo II did not follow established customary law, and therefore challenges the validity of his enstoolment and continued occupation of the Asiakwa Stool.

In view of the ongoing proceedings, the Royal Family has advised all individuals, institutions, investors, and stakeholders to exercise caution in their dealings with the Asiakwa Stool or its current occupant. Parties involved in agreements, transactions, or engagements are encouraged to review and reassess such dealings to safeguard their interests, as outcomes of the adjudication may impact existing or future arrangements.

The Royal Family emphasized that this advisory does not prejudge the outcome of the case, which remains under determination by the competent traditional authority. Further updates will be communicated as the adjudication progresses.
