Paramount Chief Of Grushie Urge Ghanaians To Ensure Peace During Election
The Greater Accra Grushie Chief, Sarki Alhaji Ibrahim Mojo has urged the people of Grushie and Sisala communities in Ghana especially the Youth to reject any form of violence in the upcoming general election slated for December 7 this year.
He further urged them to exercise their civic rights responsibly during the elections and play positive role in safeguarding the peace Ghanaians are enjoying in the country.
Chief Ibrahim Mojo who doubles as President of Grushie/Sisala Association said this in a statement, encouraged the Grushie and Sisala youth not to allow themselves to be used by any political party to cause harm but rather focus on building a better future for the next generation.
He charged the youth to reject any political party or politician who may come to them in a bid to create violence during the election to ask him or her to bring his children to lead.
He further charged the youth to be bold and educate the politician that the only way to build Ghana is through peace and not violence.
“Think of your old mother, father, your wife and children before fighting for any political party, remember that those who will be appointed as Chief Directors, Chief Executive Officers, Ministers, Municipal Chief Executives among others are not those who go on the streets to fight and cause political tension. It is rather those who sit in the comfort of their homes” he noted.
The Greater Accra Grushie Chief and President of Grushie/Sisala Association called on the youth to think twice before allowing yourselves to be use as a tool for political violence and remember that the peace Ghanaians enjoy today is more valuable than any amount the politicians will give them to risk your life and that of your family.
He called on all political parties contesting in this year’s election to focus on presenting Ghanaians with policies rather than engaging in hateful speech.
He emphasized that peace is important to all Ghanaians and therefore urged all political parties and their campaign teams to avoid words that could incite the youth and lead to violence adding that they should rather center their campaign on unity and constructive dialogue.
According to him, political parties must showcase maturity and be responsible at all times by prioritizing peace and the nation’s development.
Chief Alhaji Ibrahim Mojo who is also a member of National and Greater Accra Council of Zongo Chiefs urged the Electoral Commission to ensure maximum
transparency and fairness by providing a level playing grounds for all political parties going into the December 7 election.
This he said will strengthen its credibility and integrity and promote Ghana as the beacon of democracy in Africa as well as safeguard the peace we are all currently enjoying.
He also urge all security personnel who will be deployed for polling monitoring duties to discharge their duties diligently without fear or favor and uphold professionalism in the interest of the nation and not their political parties.
He further called on the security agencies to reflect confidence and knowledge of the election procedures and regulations to help them make the right decisions in protecting the country’s democracy.
Chief Alhaji Ibrahim Mojo also advised journalists and media practitioners that will provide media coverage on the election to adhere to professional ethical standards in order not to send false information out that will create unnecessary tension during the election.
He charge the Media to be ambassadors of peace going into the December 7 election and use their mics and pens to promote and protect peace and democracy of Ghana.
