The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Branch Executives In the Efutu Constituency said the party in Efutu Constituency has no deserving Parliamentary candidate hence, the party must approach Dr James Kofi Annan who is the President of Challenging Heights to lead the party in the constituency for the 2020 elections.
According to them, even though the party held its Parliamentary primaries a cross all the constituencies in the country, the Efutu Constituency has been left out of the primaries.
The Branch Executives who forms majority of the 84 branches in the constituency noted in a Petition they sent to the Party at the National level that “the problem the Efutu NDC constituency is facing is that the constituency does not have any clear marketable candidate capable of annexing the seat for the NDC.”
The revealed that 70 out of the 84 Branches are all in agreement with the decision for the party to approach James Kofi Annan., stressing that he is the most qualified and most marketable leader to win the Efutu Seat for the NDC.
They described Dr James Kofi Annan as an astute businessman who has created lots of employment for the youth of Efutu and although he is not an NDC member has been helping the party in diverse ways since January 2019.
Stating some of his work and achievements for the party, the Branch Executives stated that Dr Kofi Annan in 2008 supplied free posters for Mike Hammah during the elections.
“In 2019 he helped the NDC with GHC5000 to Aide the NDC party in Efutu to undertake the Limited Voter Registration exercise,” they stated.
According to them, apart from the branch executives Dr James Kofi Annan was the only person who went round to thank and show appreciation for the support people offered the party and his Winneba is King Movement during the Limited Voter Registration exercise.
He also participated in the General Secretary’s press conference at the National headquarters to issue guidelines for the parliamentary primaries.
“He has helped several NDC members training them in vocational skills, given scholarships to several of them to secondary and tertiary institutions and also supported a lot of NDC members in entrepreneurship and given employment to NDC party members,” they noted.
They however warned that the NDC will lose woefully in the Efutu Constituency if the party makes the mistake of presenting the present Aspirant to the people, pointing out that they will not support such move.
“We will not partake in any primaries towards 2020 elections since the choices available to us are difficult to market,” the warned.
