Parts I to V of this series revealed the naked criminal activities of the restless, confused and outgoing Member of Parliament (MP) for Effutu; the incompetent Board Chairman of the Ghana Water Co. Ltd (GWCL), Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin. The scandalous and unchallenged exposures include, but not limited to Afenyo-Markin’s stealing of about US$180m from an International Bank in Ghana, and subsequently feigning innocence when he was caught.
Afenyo-Markin shamelessly proceeded to default in the repayment arrangements, after pleading with the bank to keep mute on the matter for the sake of his already battered political career. Paradoxically, this criminal parades himself as a Member of Parliament and a Lawyer? What a disgrace to the image of Parliament and the Legal Profession!!
The bank which Afenyo-Markin defrauded proceeded to seize most of his treasured property. Some of the seized property include Afenyo-Markin’s house at Dzorwulu, where he is now a squatter (Afenyo-Markin is now a tenant of the bank), in addition to a seizure of Afenyo-Markin’s Chrysler and Ford SUV vehicles.
In another episode, Afenyo-Markin defaulted in repaying a loan to UT Bank; and this time too the Bank lawfully seized some other properties belonging to Afenyo-Markin; this include a garage in Takoradi.
Being undoubtedly filled with greed and evil, Afenyo-Markin greedily sued the Ghana Bauxite Co. Ltd, with the intent of illegally claiming for the payment and/or refund of some monies which were actually meant to be paid to the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) during the reign of President John Mahama. A protest letter had to be submitted to the Court by a then Deputy Finance Minister to prove beyond reasonable doubt that the money was meant for the GRA and not the thief Afenyo-Markin.
Based on the above submissions, it will not be far fetched to refer to Afenyo-Markin as a common criminal!!
There is sufficient evidence of Afenyo-Markin losing out on the control over the finances of both GWCL and the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), and as a result, he has now turned his attention to the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD).
Afenyo-Markin has endeared himself to a lady secretary in the institution, and is alleged to have heavily bribed some of the members of the Procurement Unit of COCOBOD in order to access the selected quotations in respect of the carting of cocoa beans, warehousing and the supply of jute sacks. He has mysteriously found a foreign Bank to issue a performance guarantee and also hoodwinked some local Banks to play the role of his local financiers.
All these are done on the blind side of the Management and the Board of COCOBOD. The Board and the Management are hereby being put on notice, to investigate the source of funding, the performance bonds and both international and local financiers of all contracts that companies fronting for Afenyo-Markin are parties to. This is because, Afenyo Markin’s Excel Courrier Services Company, is undischargeably bankrupt as he is owing almost every Commercial Bank in Ghana, notable among them is his huge exposure to UT Bank, Access Bank, Fidelity Bank, National Investment Bank (NIB), Standard Chartered Bank (Stanchart), to mention but few.
Indeed, Afenyo-Markin’s involvement in some of these banks is alleged to have contributed greatly to their collapse.
Afenyo-Markin’s real intention this time round is to get a 20% mobilisation at COCOBOD, and inject the said funds into his 2020 dead-at-birth MP re-election bid. He has confided in some friends, close allies and party faithfuls that this is his last hope and he is leaving no stone unturned towards obtaining the 20% mobilzation from COCOBOD.
According to Afenyo-Markin, if this fails, there is no other way he can run his 2020 moribund election campaign.
Having caused disastrous expenditures which have plunged GWCL into the red, the GWCL Management is urged to sit up, otherwise they will go down with Afenyo-Markin.
Afenyo-Markin’s persistent demand for money from his sympathizers, anytime he claims to be visiting his constituency, has turned many away from him.
Afenyo-Markin is believed to have completely lost interest in the affairs of GWCL and hardly attends their programmes, after emptying GWCL bank accounts through sole sourcing and other hugely inflated contracts.
Furthermore, the Management of GWCL is admonished to be bold and and carry through the much needed transfers of some senior officers which have been put on hold due to the interference of the failed Board Chairman, Afenyo- Markin.
Afenyo-Markin’s interference to put the transfers on hold, is not in the interest of GWCL, but rather alleged to have been as a result of heavy bribes paid him by those senior officers penciled for transfers.
The attention of the President of the Republic, His Excellency Nana Akufo-Addo, is being drawn to this criminal intent of fleecing COCOBOD, through the greed and malfeasance of one person, Afenyo-Markin.
Afenyo-Markin is too much of an embarrassment to the government and New Patriotic Party (NPP), and ought to be disciplined or strongly held in check.
Afenyo-Markin himself is a ‘dead horse’ and as a result, desperately in need of help. Therefore, anyone who puts their trust and hope in Afenyo-Markin, should know that they have misplaced their trust and hope, because Afenyo-Markin cannot even help himself! Those people expecting help from Afenyo-Markin are riding a dead horse. The only ‘good’ thing left in Afenyo-Markin to use and prey on his victims is sweet talk, accompanied by persistent demands for huge monies and failing spectacularly to deliver on his promises. A whole Professor and former VC of UEW, has fallen victim to this specific ‘good’ thing left in Afenyo-Markin. In the Professor’s own words, he was naive!
Afenyo-Markin is counseled freely to seek forgiveness from God by confessing his sins at the upcoming graduation ceremonies of UEW, and proceed to apologize unreservedly to Rev. Fr. Prof. Afful-Broni, the undisputed and ONLY Vice-Chancellor (VC) of the University of Education, Winneba (the Reverend Father is NOT prepared to share the position of VC with anyone). This is the only route to salvation opened to Afenyo-Markin.
I don’t wish those who oppose my actions or inactions death or ill-health, but rather, I pray for them to live long and see me sailing successfully through everything, and having no power to stop the success. This is exactly what has been achieved at UEW against Afenyo-Markin and his corrupt paymasters.
This baby with very sharp teeth (Afenyo-Markin), is particularly known to make a lot of noise on issues and accusations like this, so why the delay in suing me? I am yearning to be dragged to Court by this comprehensively defeated MP, come December 7th 2020, Insha Allah!!
