Bolt Driver Returns Gh38,600 Mistakenly Transferred By Rider
A Bolt driver, Albert Quansah, has been hailed for returning Gh38,600 that was mistakenly transferred to him by a rider during a ride. The rider, who was in the process of sending money to his partner, accidentally sent a large sum to Albert instead.
Albert, who has been a Bolt driver for a year, revealed that he initially felt conflicted when he saw the substantial amount transferred to him. “I knew the money could solve many problems, but I kept thinking twice. I knew I couldn’t keep it,” he said. According to Albert, it is essential to always do the right thing, and his Christian values and understanding of the consequences of dishonesty guided him in making the right choice.
Albert attempted to call the rider several times, but he wasn’t answering his phone. After they finally met, an amount of Gh15,000 was transferred back to the rider. However, since Albert had reached his daily transfer limit, he handed his phone and mobile money password to the rider to complete the transaction later. Albert then left to continue his business until the rider finished transferring the remaining amount back to his account.
As a token of appreciation, the rider offered to cover Albert’s daily target of Gh700, reflecting the significance of Albert’s good deed. The rider highlighted in a Facebook post, “I’ve never met a more selfless and honest person in my life.” He praised Albert and commended Bolt for having such remarkable drivers on their platform. Albert was speechless at the rider’s gratitude and was later surprised to learn that his actions had gone viral on social media. The rider’s post led to a lot of praise and support for Albert
In recognition of his honesty, Bolt Ghana presented Albert with a sound system and an undisclosed amount of money. Mr. Henry Whyte, acting country manager for Bolt, stated, “Albert’s actions are a testament to the values we uphold at Bolt. His honesty and selflessness are truly inspiring, and we are honoured to have him as part of our team.”
Albert’s story serves as an inspiration of hope, reminding us that good people still exist, even in challenging times. Bolt Ghana’s support and appreciation for their driver have made this a story worth celebrating, showing the positive ripple effects of one act of integrity
