Ablekuma West MP Commissions Ultra-Modern, Multi-Purpose ICT & Robotics Lab At Ebenezer SHS

The Member of Parliament for Ablekuma West, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, has commissioned a modern, integrated and multi-purpose ICT library and robotics laboratory at Ebenezer SHS in Dansoman.

According to her, young people of Ghana have the ability to do exploits if given the needed tools and skills.

She noted that, “When we are given the right tools and the right skills our young people can compete and beat the best in the world. That’s why I’m excited about this project. It’s abundantly clear from all the successes that our young people have chalked that we do not lack in talent or potential.”

Ursula Owusu-Ekuful reiterated that, what young people in Ghana need are the tools and the platforms to showcase what they can achieve with the very best in the world.

She averred that, lack of skills is the greatest barrier to digital inclusion, especially for the youth and that there is the need for the Ghanaian youth youths to have a minimum proficiency in sustainable digital skills.

Mrs. Ekuful said never in mankind’s modern history had the relevance of technology to everyday life been so marked as it was presently, adding that life could no longer be lived normally without reliance on technology considering the emergence of COVID-19 pandemic

She indicated that, “in the face of adversity, our innovation must come to play.”

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Of MTN Ghana, Selorm Adadevoh noted that his outfit is excited to be part of the story of the Dansoman Community Library that is likely going down as the first Secondary School library in Ghana to have a modern integrated, multipurpose library that includes both an ICT component and a Robotics lab.

“One of our core mandates is to improve the quality of life of people through appropriate and sustainable interventions in communities where MTN operates. Simply put, we have a responsibility to the people of Dansoman and we are happy to support in this way,” the MTN CEO said.

According to Mr Adadevoh, MTN is committed to bringing ICT to the doorsteps of many more Ghanaians. He insists that for Dansoman and Ebenezer Senior High School, this is only the beginning of their unique journey towards Ghana’s dream and ambition of a digital economy.

While stressing the continuous commitment of MTN to impact more lives positively, he expressed gratitude to the MP of Ablekuma West Constituency, Mrs. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful and authorities of Ebenezer Senior High School for the vision, support and collaboration through the process from ideation to execution of the project.

“As we hand over the project, I would like to encourage the authorities and beneficiaries of this facility, to treat it as your own and adopt the maintenance culture needed to preserve the facility for future generations,” he said.

The Ebenezer SHS is the first secondary school in Ghana to have a modern, integrated, and multipurpose library that includes both an ICT component and a robotics lab following the commissioning of the project.

Funded by telecommunications giant, MTN, the project aims at providing the next generation in the Dansoman community a means to acquire more knowledge and skills as well as a means to a relevant future.

The Project was made possible through MTN Ghana Foundation.

The project started 12 months ago after MTN was approached by officials of the school with the request for the learning centre.

The ultra-modern library facility that cost GHS770,000 boasts of a reception area, a storeroom, a 100-seater conventional library area, a 20-seater ICT center, a world-class Robotics lab or training center, two Offices plus washrooms.
