Accra Zango Chief Commiserates with former President Rawlings Over Mother’s Death

A delegation of the Greater Accra Zango Chief, Alhaji Sarki Yahaya Hamisu Baako on Wednesday paid a courtesy call on former President Jerry John Rawlings to commiserate with him on the death of his mother, Madam Victoria Agbotui who died in the early hours of Thursday, September 24 at the age of 101. The delegation of chiefs was led by the Sarkin Faada of the Accra Zango Chief Alhaji Murtala Karki to mourn the demise of Madam Victoria Agbotui, mother of the former President and a queen-mother of the Anlo State.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, the Development Chief of the Zango Chief Alhaji Mohammed Ashkah stated that the mother of the former President lived a good life and had “seen it all”. He consoled the former President and his family and encouraged him to take heart as his mother had lived a full life. Alhaji Ashkah assured that the Accra Zango Chief and his Cabinet will fully participate in the funeral of his late mother. Marafa of the Accra Zango Chief prayed for Mr. Rawlings, his family and the country at large.

The delegation includes, Alhaji Murtala Karki, Sarki Fada, Alhaji Umar Farouk Salage, Wanbai, Alhaji Amadu Yahaya, Sardauna, Alhaji Imrana Adamu Baako, Marafa, Alhaji Usmana Hanafi, Chief of Zabarma Community in Zango, Alhaji Mohammed Ashkah, Sarki Cigari (Development Chief), Alhaji Sidik, Sarkin Faila, Awudu Nelson, Matawale, Alhaji Ila Doodo, Jakada ( Ambassador), Alhaji Amiru Gambo Baako, Hakimin Yanma, Alhaji Amadu Umar, Turaki and Yusif Elias, Magatakarda (Secretary).

Election

The Marafa of Greater Accra Zango Chief called on Ghanaians especially the Zango Youth to be Ambassadors of peace and refrain from any act of violence before and during the election.

He reiterated gone are the days when Zango youth are used as weapons of destruction during elections and are dumped afterwards adding that Zango youth have learned mistakes from the past and will never allow themselves to be used to create anarchy and mayhem in a rather peaceful society.

Secretary of the Accra Zango Chief, Usif Iliasu called on political parties to desist from politics of insult and embark on peaceful campaigns to win the hearts and minds of their supporters.
