Constituents of Ayawaso East constituency of the National Democratic Congress (NDC)in the Greater Accra Region have expressed disappointment in the aspiring Parliamentary Candidate hopeful, Dr. Yakubu Azindow for using the media to create false and needles allegation to tarnish the hard won reputation of the Member of Parliament of the constituency and the party he want to serve as an MP.
The constituents believe that Dr. Azindow knew he was not qualified to contest hence the strategies to create cooked up bribery allegation against the MP and regional party executives.
According to the constituents, Dr. Azindow has been moving from one branch to the other seeking for support from the branches but he was told to step aside because delegates believe he is not known and will not meet the requirements during the vetting process.
They revealed that Dr. Azindow did not heed to their advise but rather went and form a team to champion his agenda which resulted in personal attacks on his opponent, the seating MP.
According to the constituents, the conduct of Dr. Azindow smacks of cowardice and a disgrace to the constituency he wants to lead considering the falsehood caused to be published by ghanaiandemocrat.com which has no substantial evidence to back whatever allegations made in the publication.
They further revealed that they, the constituents, admired Dr. Azindow a lot but will not allow him and his campaign team to tarnish the image of the constituency and the regional executives who have toil for the party to gain grounds in the constituency.
“Our concern is that, if you want to contest follow the procedure and no constituency or regional executives will intimidate you but we know that he only cooked up this story just to frustrate the vetting process, ” they noted.
They called on the constituency and regional executives to deliver the powers giving to them and follow due process to do their work diligently without fear or favour.
The constituents further advised the entire Constituency Executives to learn some lesson as to the kind of division that Yakubu Azindow is trying to portray in the Ayawaso East Constituency.
Background
The ghanaiandemocrat.com in it July 24, 2019 edition alleged that the Member of Parliament for Ayawaso East is sharing unspecified amount of money in an envelopes to each of the members of the vetting committee to disqualify his main competitor, Dr. Yakubu Azindow when he takes his turn to meet the committee.
The portal alleged that the already planned scheme was led by the constituency chairman Alhaji Olabode Williams who has openly declared his support to the incumbent adding that source from within the inner circles of the Nasser camp tells of how a plan had been made for the vetting committee to disqualify Dr. Yakubu Azindow at all cost to allow the MP to go unopposed.
The portal further alleged that some constituency executives who were pushing the plan, according to it source, also had their share of fat envelopes.
