Ayawaso West Election 2020: Lydia Alhassan Optimistic Of 65% Votes

The New Patriotic Party‘s Parliamentary Candidate for the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency, Hon. Lydia Seyram Alhassan, has expressed great optimism that she is winning the December 7 elections with a huge margin; unprecedented in the history of the Constituency.

Speaking at a debate forum organized by TV3 for the Ayawaso West Wuogon Parliamentary Candidates ahead of the December 7, elections, last Friday, Hon. Lydia Seyram Alhassan said, to the admiration of her supporters that, “I’m winning this election; I’m winning massively with nothing less than 65 percent.”

Hon. Lydia Seyram Alhassan, who is also the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for the Constituency, said she has done so well for the people of Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency since she became the MP in two-year and that she is positive that the people will reward her with a resounding victory come December 7, 2020.

She said she is resolute that come December 7th, the good people of Ayawaso West Wuogon would give her and the government of President Nana Akufo-Addo another four more years to do more.

The MP, Hon. Lydia Seyram Alhassan elaborated on some of the things she has done for her constituency including the implementation of the Ayawaso Entrepreneurial Scheme with the donation of fleet of cars to some selected persons in the constituency for commercial purposes, building the capacity of drivers and securing licenses for them, support to over 500 squatters displaced by the ravaging fire, donations of vehicle and motorbikes to the University of Ghana and the Ghana Police to tighten security and eliminate the mounting security challenges on the university campus, offered capacity building for identifiable women’s groups in the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency, and supporting her constituents, students, vulnerable women and children, and workers by throwing a life line to them among others.

Taking his turn however, the NDC Parliamentary Candidate John Dumelo, who couldn’t say anything positive of him wining the coming election, said “I will not sit here and say that I will win the elections by this margin or that margin.”

He however said he distributed 500 Laptops being the biggest investment in education ever in the constituency.

He said; “The distribution of over 4000 Laptops continues. This is by far the biggest investment in education ever to happen in Ayawaso West. So far, we have distributed 500 laptops to students in the constituency and we are still motivated to share the remaining 3,500 laptops.”

However, Lydia Seyram Alhassan whose avowed achievements are visible in the constituency, challenged to provide the list of the students who have benefited from his scheme.

“He is talking about laptops; he should give us the list of people he has distributed the 500 laptops to. He has given less than 20 laptops and I can confirm that,” Lydia Seyram Alhassan said.

John Dumelo who picked offence at the challenge thrown at him to provide evidence to his claims, attempted to leave the venue of the debate.
