Beatrice Owarewaa Siaw Declares MP Ambition for Asante Mampong Seat, Cites Over GH₵40 Billion Personal Investment

A businesswoman and development advocate, Beatrice Owarewaa Siaw, has announced her intention to contest the parliamentary seat for Asante Mampong in the Ashanti Region, positioning her bid on what she describes as a strong record of personal investment and community development.

Speaking during an interaction with the media, Madam Siaw revealed that her decision follows years of direct intervention in the constituency, where she claims to have funded multiple projects without support from government or external agencies.

She stated:
“I’m coming from Asante Mampong, and I do have a political ambition within Asante. I have done over 40 projects within Asante Mampong. I evacuated a boiler that was over 40 years old, built schools from the ground up, paid tuition, and assisted people medically when they couldn’t take themselves to the hospital. I have also drilled boreholes and done so many things. I have spent over GH₵40 billion in Asante Mampong from my own money, without the backing of government or any third-party agency.”

Madam Siaw further indicated that her decision to enter the race has been influenced largely by calls from residents, who she says are demanding change and encouraging her to step forward.

“Anytime you go to Mampong and I’m walking around in the streets, people are saying ‘Nana Yaa, Mampong this year, we need you. We need change.’ Right now, there are no factories in Mampong. I want to build two factories within the constituency—one like a Kivo-type company and another focused on vegetable packaging. We need jobs because when you go around, you see the youth roaming. When I look into their eyes, I see they are lost and need someone to push them forward.”

She confirmed that she will be contesting the incumbent Member of Parliament, Kwaku Ampratwum-Sarpong, who has held the seat for three consecutive terms. Despite acknowledging the challenge ahead, she expressed confidence in her chances.

“I am contesting the current MP, and I know it will not be an easy task. He has been on the seat for three consecutive terms and succeeded someone as well. But I believe everything comes with a challenge, and I am ready to rise against it. There may be insults, so I need to develop a thick skin. Not everything people say will be true, but we must focus on the common goal—Mampong needs change.”

Touching on her political affiliation, Madam Siaw reiterated her support for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), expressing optimism about the party’s prospects despite perceptions about its current position.

“Some people may think the NPP is not as attractive, especially when in opposition, but we are reorganizing ourselves. We have named our flagbearer, Mahamudu Bawumia, and we believe with his impeccable track record as former Vice President, he can lead this country to greater heights. The party is putting itself in order, and before the end of the year, everything will be okay.”

Madam Siaw concluded that securing the parliamentary seat would enable her to lobby for increased funding and accelerate development projects in Asante Mampong, particularly in job creation and infrastructure expansion.
