MainOne Chooses Appolonia City For Data Centre Expansion In Ghana
MainOne has selected Appolonia City, Greater Accra’s inclusive mixed-use new city, for a new data centre in Ghana.
Through MDXi, a MainOne subsidiary that is the largest commercial data centre services provider in the region, the company will boost its already robust infrastructure and service profile in Ghana, in line with its regional expansion plans.
The new Tier III facility on one acre of land in Appolonia Industrial Park is expected to be ready for service in 2020. It will cater to the ever-increasing demand for colocation and interconnection services for multinationals and local businesses seeking shared services for their ICT resources in world-class facilities.The data centre will be designed to international standards consistent with the MainOne brand, assuring collocated customers of the highest quality of service to meet their business requirements.

MDXi’s world-class infrastructure features private data centre suites, enterprise-grade 24×7 multi-level security and video surveillance, precision cooling, safety and fire suppression systems with multiple redundancies built into the power, cooling and security infrastructure. In line with its parent company’s leadership in the telecoms sector, the new facility will offer open access connectivity options to all the leading telecom networks in Ghana and direct access to MainOne and other submarine cable systems.
The facility will provide access to various Internet Exchanges including the GIX (Ghana), IXPN (Nigeria), LINX (London), DECIX (Frankfurt/Lisbon), and Cote d’Ivoire Internet Exchange (CIVIX), as well as the West Africa Internet Exchange (WAF-IX).
Appolonia Industrial Park is a 200-acre zone within Appolonia City’s 2,325-acre development with high-quality infrastructure specifically engineered for light industrial uses. In addition to MainOne, other local and international companies are also developing facilities at the park, including Nickseth Construction, Alusynco, Crownhouse Construction & Logistics, PUMA Energy and Total Ghana.
