Manhea Zongo Chief And Kemet Hospital Organise Free Health Screening

The Zongo Chief of Manhea, Sarki Abdul-Kadir Ahmed Abdul-Kadir in collaboration with the Kemet Hospital Limited have organised free health screening for the people of Manhea in the Amasaman Municipality of the Greater Accra.

The exercise was undertaken by doctors and Nurses from Kemet Hospital who treated various ailments like: diabetes, high blood pressure, hypertension and skin problems among others.

Dr. Somuah Boateng, the Medical Director of Kemet Hospital, in an interview with this reporter, said the exercise was vital as majority of the people, especially the aged in the area, found it difficult to go for health checks.

He said many diseases were seriously affecting the people due to improper diet and lack of physical exercise, which sometimes caused sudden deaths and advised people with malaria problems to keep their surrounding clean and adopt the use of sleeping in a treated mosquito nets as well as the usage of protective creams.

He further advised the people with cases of High Blood Pressure to minimise the intake of salt, eat more fruits and vegetables, modified their lifestyle minimise the intake of food that contains a lot of cholesterol and tried to reduce their tress level.

Dr Boateng urged the public to go for regular medical check-ups for the early detection of illnesses to avoid health complications.

He said the people who were found with diseases were given medication while others with serious cases referred to health facilities for further treatment.

According to him, it is the hospital’s responsibility to give back what the community have giving to them hence their move to partner with religious bodies within their area of operations to organise a free health screening exercise for the people.

He expressed gratitude to the Manhea Zongo Chief for the warm reception and role he played to ensure a successful health screening.

On his part, the Manhea Bisa Chief under the leadership of Abdul-Kadir Ahmed Abdul-Kadir, Nii Bisa who spoked on behalf of the Manhea Zongo Chief revealed that this is not the first time Manhea Zongo Chief has organise such an exercise for the community.

He added that the Manhea Zongo Chief has over the years provided free Health Insurance Card for the aged and needy people within the community.

He assured that the Manhea Zongo Chief and Kemet Hospital would continue to organise such programmes to improve the health of the people in other communities within the Amasaman Municipality.

The beneficiaries of the health screening exercise thanked the organisers and the sponsors of the programme and called for more of such health exercises for them to receive medical attention at their doorsteps.

They appealed to the Chief and Kemet Hospital to extend assistance to members of deprived communities in the area to improve their living conditions.
