NPP Delegates Express Fears Of Losing The Seat If Charles Bissue Contests

Information reaching this paper indicates that the leadership of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) are harboring fears of losing the Esikado-Ketan constituency seat should Charles Bissue be allowed to contest.

These concerns are not being expressed by the leadership of the party in that constituency but also supporters who believe Charles Bissue would be a disaster for the party.

Most delegates in the constituency have warned the leadership of the NPP to stop Charles Bissue for contesting because he has some issues pending at the Court and the Special Prosecutor.

They said, these matters need to be concluded and Charles Bissue exonerated from any wrongdoing before he should contest because, with all these matters hanging around his neck, it is evident that people have lost confidence in him and for that matter, must be stopped from contesting.

The delegates are alleging will the NPP will lose the seat to NDC if they don’t get a strong candidate for the battle.

Former Secretary to the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining (IMCIM), Charles Bissue was on Monday, January 15, unsuccessful with his judicial review application seeking to quash an arrest warrant obtained by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).

Mr Bissue’s lawyers were seeking to stop the court’s directive to have him cross-examined.

However, on December 6, the High Court in Accra (Human Rights Division) presided over by Justice Nicholas Mensah Abodakpi directed lawyers of Mr Bissue), the OSP and the Attorney General to file their written submissions.

As per the court’s directive, Mr Bissue’s lawyer was also supposed to submit his written submissions for the case.

However, he failed to do so, citing a torn ligament as the reason and requested additional time.

The OSP is investigating him for suspected corruption and corruption-related offences relating to illegal mining.

With this, delegates and supporters of the NPP are appealing to the National leadership to caution Charles Bissiw to rescind his decision in order to save the party the embarrassment of losing the seat.

They are however rooting for a new face that will match the NDC and ensure that the seat is maintained.

The delegates said, a person like Mz. Obaaatanpa Horma Miezah is the real deal for the EKC seat, and asked the party not to look any further.

They described him as an all-resourced personality who can help improve the well-being of the constituents in their pursuit of economic freedom and individual empowerment.

“Obaaatanpa Horma is the competent candidate with the pedigree in NPP Esikado-Ketan now to retain the seat for the NPP come 2024. And we can’t downplay this bare truth and fact as a party in the Western Region ready to break the 8. Let us pay attention to this Data and make no mistakes NPP E.K.C. The standard of Constituency with regards to public service can’t be reduced for anything,” they said.
