NPP Will Nicodemously Copy NDC Manifesto Approach- Ako Gunn Chides

A Deputy National Communication Officer of the National Democratic Congress ( NDC) Mr Godwin Ako Gunn, has chided members of the New Patriotic Party(NPP) for berating the Bottom-up manifesto approach of the NDC for 2020 general elections.

According him, deep within hearts of the NPP, members, they knew the NDC power to the people manifesto would become a superior document for Ghanaians to make a choice in the next elections.

In a write up making rounds in social media, Mr Ako Gunn described the NPP as hypocritical, because they would belittled the approach and make U-turn to copy same.

For instance, he said when the constitutional assembly committee was drafting the 1992 Constitution, the NPP boycotted it on grounds that they were too big to sit down with market women and farmers to draft a Constitution, but today they parades themselves as apostle of the law.

He added that, when late President John Evans Atta Mills in 2008 embarked on door-door campaigns towards the general elections then, the NPP mocked him but turned round with their then flagbearer, Nana Akufo Addo in 2012 to be drinking sachet water and eating ampesi, kpoikpoi” with people in public places as well as boarding public transport.

These, among other copy and past attitude of the NPP, Mr Ako Gunn said are enough evidence that, the NPP would nicodemously copy the NDC bottom-up approach manifesto for 2020.

He said the NDC manifesto is to give the people of Ghana the opportunity to make their own governance and the chance to hold the government responsible if at the end of the day their choice of governance is not been consider.

The NDC has set up a 21 members committee to solicit views and ideas of Ghanaians for its 2020 manifesto.

The yet to be compile  manifesto is being described as THE PEOPLE MANIFESTO, would among other allow the party to use such views to draft the manifesto for 2020 general elections.

Let me first salute the manifesto Committee and the entire executives of the National Democratic Congress led by His excellency John Mahama for giving the grassroots of the party, various associations and groupings the platform to contribute to the manifesto of the NDC for 2020.

On my wife’s birthday over the years, I make a deliberate effort to get the best for her. Some she receives with a shout of surprise, others, she receives with a hug and says you should have gotten something simpler or a different colour.

This year, I decided to ask my wife exactly what she wants for her birthday, she giggled like a teenager, made noise around, picks a pen and a paper and thinking through what exactly she wants for her birthday 2020.

A neighbour who has visited with his marriage problems sees this and says I am not a good husband, I don’t know how to take care of my wife, I must be able to make the decision for her because I am the man.

For us as a party, we must be proud of our involvement of our grassroots in decision making.

The 1992 constitution of the Republic of Ghana was written by market women, teachers, traders amongst others. They were wise enough to add progressively free education. It took those who think they know it all over 40 years to discover that it is in our constitution they boycotted.

President Mills of blessed memory introduced a door to door campaign and our neighbour laughed, after they were dazed into a defeat, they learnt to drink pure water, eat ampesi kpoikpoi with the people. They got down from their high horses.

Next year, I can promise you they will follow the principled position……………
