OLAF Enhances Selling Abilities In School Children

One Life Aid Foundation (OLAF), a Non-Governmental organization which has extensively embarked on an educational project in selected communities across the country, has taken its Reading Project to at the St John Bosco Roman Catholic School and Osabene Islamic School in Koforidua.

These projects are the Foundation’s efforts in supporting government’s energies in achieving quality education in Ghana, especially in less deprived communities.

The project is to support needy school children in deprived community schools in the Eastern Region and by extension, across the country in developing good reading habits.

OLAF’s Reading Project which was held in these two schools on February 5 and 7th respectively, was in collaboration with the Ghana Library Authority.

Founder and Executive Director of One Life Aid Foundation (OLAF), Joycelyn Siaw-Asamoah, in an interview noted that it was inspiring having parents come support their wards with reading.

She said the 2 hours to read project reached about 500 pupils of the Osabene Islamic School in the Eastern Region of Ghana and that with the collaboration and support of the Ghana Library Authority which came along with their mobile Library project, the project was successful.

“We want to also thank the school head, teachers and Parents Teacher Association for their support during the project,” she said.

According to her, the ability and motivation to read is one of the best gifts to give to children because reading opens their minds to new knowledge, enhances their creativity and innovation, enhances their spelling ability, vocabulary and fluency and gives them the chance of traveling around places in their minds by helping them narrate and create imageries.

She also noted that children of all ages will learn to develop stronger focus, increased intelligence, creativity and more awareness of the world around them when they dive into reading books.
