The Leadership including elders of Parliament Chapel International has donated assorted items to children at the Mampong Government Hospital as part of the Church’s Social Intervention programs.
The Founder and Leader of the Church Apostle Francis Amoako Attah and his wife, Mrs. Mavis Amoako led a delegation of elders and some church members to the Mampong Government Hospital to visit, pray and give out to children on admission at the children’s ward of the hospital.
Mrs. Mavis Amoako who led a prayer for the children and their mothers, said members of the church have embarked on the exercise as part of their initiative in supporting the sick and the needy in society.
She averred that apart from prayers which patients need to recover, they also need to build their physical bodies as well, hence the donation of the items which included detergents, soft drinks, biscuits, soaps, toiletries, boxes of bottled mineral water, and boxes of fruit juices among other assorted items.
Also, Speaking to Apostle Francis Amoako Attah he said God’s people are called to pray for one another, help one another and to be encouragers and that Matthew 7:12 say: “So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.
“The Bible in Matthew 25:35-45 also stressed the act of giving to the sick. It says; “For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’ Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’”
According to him, the Christian approach to pain, suffering, and sickness is compassion, mercy, tenderness, and caring because as is stated in the Book of Matthew, ‘When He saw the crowd, He felt compassion for them, because they were weary and worn out, like sheep without a shepherd. (Matthew 9:36).’
He said: “Jesus didn’t write off their illness as an illusion. He didn’t blame them for their illness. He didn’t discourage them or tell them to give up. He had compassion. If you’re going to be like Jesus, you have to learn to be compassionate toward people when they’re sick.”
Apostle Amoako Attah said sometimes, God intentionally allows sick people in our lives to give us the opportunity to learn to love and these people are not accidentally in our lives.
He also urged Christians to give people living with sickness the gift of hope, explaining that people can handle almost anything in life if they have hope and “One of the ways you can give people hope is through a word of encouragement. Other ways might come through physical expressions of affection like a touch, a hug, or a pat on the back to show your concern and through donations such as this. That gives people hope.”
He also elaborated on the importance of praying for the sick. According to him, prayer is asking God to heal people who are sick since all healing comes from God, no matter the method He uses.
“He can use doctors. He can use medicine. He can use natural techniques. He can work a miracle. God heals people many different ways. Doctors will tell you they cannot heal. They can perform procedures, but the healing has to be God doing it in your life. The Bible calls Jesus the Great Physician. He is the cure to the ailments in your life. When it comes to guilt, worry, depression, fear, bitterness, boredom, loneliness, etc., he is the great physician who heals physically, spiritually, and emotionally, so we as Christians, must always develop the habits of praying for our beloved who are sick.”
On his part, the Apesemakanhene of Mampong Akwiapim, Nana Yirenkyi I, who led the members of the church to the hospital called on other Men of God to emulate the footsteps of Apostle Francis Amoako Attah.
He said, Apostle Amoako Attah is one of the finest Men of God who has done marvelously well for God and man and that.
Nana Yirenkyi l said it is high time Pastors desist from giving death prophesies and go to hospitals, visit the sick, pray for them and give them hope.
“A real man of God does what Jesus did,” he said and thanked Parliament Chapel International for supporting the hospital.
