The National Democratic Congress, NDC, has reminded the Ghana Police Service of their responsibility of maintaining peace, law and order in the country and their loyalty to the state and the citizenery.

According to the NDC, the Police are not appendages of President Akufo-Addo and must not allow their professional Intergrity to be derailed by politicians.

“Your role should not be the needless and shameful intimidation of the opposition.”

Addressing a press conference in Accra, the Communication Director of the NDC, Kakra Essumuah, described the arrest of National Communication Office, Sammy Gyamfi as needless show of excessive power.

He indicated that, the Gestapo style arrest was a retaliation towards Sammy Gyamfi for constantly exposing the corrupt activities of the Nana Addo’s government.

Mr. Essamuah said the arrest of the party’s National Communications Officer, Sammy Gyamfi contravenes the orders of the High Court.

According to him the arrest is tantamount to contempt adding; Sammy Gyamfi had earlier filed a suit at the High Court, barring the Police from arresting or interrogating him.

Mr. Essamuah condemned the arrest of the party’s National Communications Officer Sammy Gyamfi describing it as primitive and diversionary tactics by the governing NPP.

He reiterated that the NDC is focused and will not be detracted by any attempt in their effort to expose the daily corruption scandals of the Akufo-Addo government.

Mr. Essamuah said the NDC have had enough of what they describe as harassment from the Akufo-Addo government.

He added that henceforth members of the party will not allow themselves to be treated in the manner some police officers have treated them in recent times.
