The elders of Zabarma community in the Greater Accra Region have praised the Greater Accra Council of Zongo Chiefs for boldly taking steps to resolve the Greater Accra Chieftaincy dispute which has brought to the end the dispute within the Zabarma community in Accra.

The Council of Zongo Chiefs in a letter dated on September 26, 2022 jointly signed by the Acting Chairman, Chief Alhaji Siddick Jimala and the General Secretary Chief Is-Hak Suleiman Naaba Sigiri and addressed to the President of the Ga Traditional Council stated that Chief Alhaji Musah Yahaya Yendu is the legitimate Greater Accra Zabarma Chief.

The letter further stated that Musah Yendu was installed in the year 2000 after the demise of his father and became a member same year.

The council in the letter stated that Sarki Pro-Umar Tanko was installed as the Accra Central Zabarma community Chief in the year 2020 and not Greater Accra Zabarma Chief.

The elders explained that the move by the council of Zongo Chiefs will not only led to peace but unity among the Zabarma people in Accra, citing the number of threat and disunity the dispute has brought to the people in the Zabarma community.

According to them the decision by the council who through the letter have proven that Sarki Musah Yahaya Yendu is the legitimate Greater Accra Zabarma Chief has united the people.

The elders and the members of Zabarma community in Accra made the commendation after receiving a letter copied to them from the Council of Zongo Chiefs which was addressed to the Ga Traditional Council restraining Sarki Pro Umar Abubakar Tanko from parading himself as the Greater Accra Zabarma Chief and rather stick to his position as the Accra Central Zabarma community Chief.

According to the elders, they witnessed the installation of Sarki Musah Yahaya Yendu as the Greater Accra Zabarma Chief in the year 2000 after the demise of his father.

The elders revealed that Alhaji Umar Tanko was installed without proper consultation with the elders but they let it go due to Musah Yendu’s authorization and approval as the Greater Accra Zabarma Chief for the installation of Sarki Umar Tanko as the Accra Central Zabarma Chief.

This according to them, it came as a surprise that the newly installed Accra Central Zabarma Chief started parading himself as the Greater Accra Zabarma Chief.

The elders stated that the history of Greater Accra Zabarma chieftaincy has nothing to do with Sarki Umar Tanko and called on him to accept his fate and move on with his Accra Central Zabarma community Chief for the sake of peace and development.

“The Greater Accra Zabarma community has only one Chief and is in the person on Sarki Alhaji Musah Yahaya Yendu” the elders noted.
