The people of Mfensi in the Atwima Nwabiagya North Municipality in the Ashanti region on Tuesday benefited from the Worthy’s Charity Outreach program.
The NGO led by the CEO, Miss Keziah Monica Boateng, organised a health screening exercise for the people in the community.
Worthy’s Charity Outreach is an NGO based in the US which helps the needy, most especially the deprived children and widows.
On Tuesday, the NGO together with some Kumawood stars stormed Mfensi with its free health screening exercise for the townsfolks.
Among some of the Kumawood stars were, Mama Kali, Kyinkyinatwan, Ossode Body Tilapia, among others.
The screening exercise included body mass index measurements, blood pressure checks, glucose level measurement, prostate enlargement checks, checking for typhoid fever, among some other sicknesses.
The NGO also provided the people with free medication.
They also shared thousands of exercise books, pens and pencils to pupils in the community as part of their social responsibilities.
Miss Dorothy Boakye, a staff nurse at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi took the opportunity to advise the general public to do a routine health check-up even when they are not sick.
“Doing this check-up will let you know if there is a hidden sickness,” she advised.
Some of the beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to Worthy’s Charity Outreach for its kind gestures shown to the community.
They said they were very grateful to have such a wonderful and God fearing person in the shape of Keziah as their daughter who also hails from the community.
“She has done a lot for us and God will continue to bless her in all their endeavours,” they added.
Mr Appiah Stephen, a member of Worthy’s Charity Outreach, who stood in for the CEO mentioned that, the NGO will do anything possible to help the needy and the less privileged, especially the widows to lift them up and that, what happened at Mfensi is a typical example.
He used the occasion to appeal for support from other organizations, saying that the NGO is planning to roll out several activities to support people especially women and children in deprived communities in the country.
He also expressed gratitude to those who have contributed to the overall success of the health screening exercise.
Mr. Appiah also averred that the NGO was established in 2012 to help improve the living conditions of street children, widows as well as disadvantaged and underprivileged in society through its charity works.
In recognition of her support for the needy, including women, children and widows in various communities the Foundation was awarded as a Humanitarian NGO of the year at the just ended 8th African Health CEOs and Legends awards in Accra.
