The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of KOANS Estates, Professor Kofi Anokye has indicated that government’s intervention to release stress on Ghanaian Small Scale businesses with Coronavirus Alleviation Programme (CAP) business support scheme to ease economic pressure on businesses is a wrong move.

According to him, the move by the government is useless and irrelevant considering the current situation countries all over the world are in over the COVID-19.

Professor Kofi Anokye, a businessman and a motivational speaker in an interview pointed out that government should rather wait for the COVID-19 tension to subside and lift the ban of social gathering for businesses to strive before considering the release of the loan.

He said loans for businesses at this time is not necessary, averring that “currently businesses are down with most of workers being laid off and no serious business man will invest in this situation.”

He added that this intervention by the government will not yield any good results rather unnecessary pressure on Ghanaians and Ghanaian businesses.

He therefore advised government to think through the initiative and listen to good advice to encourage businesses to strive for the development and betterment of the country.

Professor Kofi Anokye however condemned the unnecessary fear and panic over the COVID-19 deaths.

He said the pandemic is rather related to the whites not with Africans because of their weather condition, stressing that “the government should rather take the bold steps and find a better solution to end the fears created with the pandemic for businesses to move.”

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo launched a GH¢600 million Coronavirus Alleviation Programme (CAP) business support scheme intended to support small and medium-scale enterprises (SMEs) impacted by the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

The fund is intended to provide relief to SMEs across the country that has been negatively affected by the disease.
