Dr Asare Must Go! – Korlebu-Staff Demands CEO Retires

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Nation’s premier hospital, Korle-Bu, Dr. Daniel Asare, is being forced to vacate his office for attaining his retirement age.

Information available to this paper indicate that some staff of the hospital are calling on the CEO to leave the office since he has reached sixty years retirement age.

This paper can confirm that protest posters have been littered on the premises of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital calling on the CEO to as a matter of urgency vacate his position.

The posters read, “SO NA TRUE CEO HAS CHANGED HIS AGE TO STAY LONGER AT POST???????WE ARE WATCHING UUUUUUUUU. GO! GO!! GO!!!,” and “IN GHANA 60 YEARS IS RETIREMENT. KOSSA WHY! KOSSA WHY!! KOSSA WHY!!! WHY THE SILENCE, WE ARE WATCHING. YOUR TIME IS UP GO!!!

According to hospital staff, Dr. Asare’s two-year contract has ended.

They are demanding the CEO’s exit because, according to them, he has reached the public sector retirement age of 60 years, alleging that Dr Asare, per his personal details at the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) was born on 31st May, 1960, and should retire at the end of this month when he turns 60.

The staff also claimed the CEO’s performance in that office has been very abysmal.

Meanwhile when contacted, Dr. Asare denied all the allegations levelled against him.

He stated that he has not yet hit his retirement age as claimed, saying that “I have signed a two years contract and would therefore not be worried over any pressure from any group of people.”

Dr Asare was appointed as the new Korle Bu CEO in August 2018 at a time when a frenzied misunderstanding existed between the Korle Bu Senior Staff Association (KOSSA) and the then-management led by the CEO at the time, Dr Felix Anyaa.
