Gov’t Spent Billions Of Cedis On New Ga Mantse Installation …Regional Minister Confesses; Threatens Abola Dzaasetse
The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Ishmael Ashitey had confessed to the Abola delegation which called on his office that government has spent so much money on the purported installation of the Dr Kelvin Tackie as Ga Mantse which was without parliamentary approval.
The Regional Minister, last week Monday May 18, 2020 extended invitation to the Abola Dzaasetse, Nii Okai Awua II (Henry Ayikushie Addo) to have discussions over the purported installation of a new Ga Mantse.
The meeting which eventually ended on a bad note, saw the Minister revealing to the delegation that government had spent billions of Ghana Cedis on that installation and threatened that any attempt by anybody to nullify the installation will not be countenanced.
Information gathered indicated that the Minister got furious when the Abola Dzaasetse, Nii Okai Awua II told him that the Ga Mantse throne is his (Nii Okai Awua II) family Royal throne and for that matter will not relinquish it to anybody, not even for billions of Cedis.
They made it emphatically clear to the Regional Minister that it was the turn of the Ga Abola Piam Royal house of Abola Tunmma We to rule as Ga Mantse and will never ever compromise their position to agree to the terms of some few interested government officials to forcefully twist all the facts, judgements, and evidence which are in favour of the Ga Abola Piam Royals to rule as Ga Mantse this point in time.
The delegation also noted that the perpetrators of that unlawful installation only distorted the line of succession of the rule of the Ga Mantse throne.
They warned and advised the minister that these acts are sacrilegious and could lead to several deaths if the customary rites and traditions are defied to provoke the deities.
They also warned that government officials, the Ga Traditional Council and the Gborbu Wulomo do not install a Ga Mantse for the people of Accra, when the Regional Minister ignorantly said that it was the Ga Traditional Council that has chosen a Ga Mantse and installed one for the people of Ga Mashie.
The Dzaasetse for Abola, Nii Okai Awua II pointed out that, by facts and evidence and making reference to the Anthropological report as the only accepted records book of reference, known as “The Social Organization of the Ga People” written by M. J. Fields used for the adjudication of all cases related to Ga Mantse installation and it’s social structures, that the mandate resides only on the Ga Abola Dzaasetse and the Asere Akwashontse to carry out an installation of a Ga Mantse and that any other process contrary to these guidelines as stipulated in the Anthropological report of the Social Organization of the Ga People, written by M. J. Fields is completely unscrupulous, unlawful, fraudulent, distortion, frivolous and illegal to the Social Organization and Traditional and Customary structures of the Ga People.
The Minister who sensed seriousness in the Dzaasetse’s voice threatened Nii Okai Awua II and warned him to desist from using his position as a journalist with pen and paper as weapons to rubbish the installation that the Regional Coordinating Council spent so much on.
“I will arrest you if there is any attacks in Ga mashie,” Ishmael Ashitey threatened.
Meanwhile, Nii Okai Awua II and his entourage including Nii Kofi Tuadan III Abola Mantse, Nii Ahele Darku Abola Atofotse, Nii Okai Nunoo Abola Head of Nunoo and all Allied Families, Nii Ayittey Osu Abola Piam head of family, and Naa Okujioman Terwulu I Hebron Manye of Abola Kpatashie, saw government’s involvement in the unlawful installation of Ga Mantse, as admitted by the Regional Minister as a clear breach of the Financial Act.
They called on the State Special Prosecutor, Hon Martin Amidu to immediately investigate these unnecessary spending and release of funds made by the greater Accra Regional Minister to support an illegality of the installation of Ga Mantse.
They hinted of petitioning the President and the Special Prosecutor on that soon.
The Deputy Regional Minister, Elizabeth Kwartso Sackey who was also at the said meeting
The meeting and deliberations travelled into a hot argument before the Regional Minister had to excuse the delegation after he issued the threats of arresting the Abola Dzaasetse Nii Okai Awua II, that should any act of confusion erupt in Accra, especially in the upcoming festival of the Ga Homowo celebration.
These words of threat did not go well with the delegation resulting in response from all present at the meeting.
Meanwhile Nii Okai Awua II said the position of the Greater Accra Regional Minister for saying that the “Ga Traditional Council has installed a Ga Mantse for the people of Ga mashie,” clearly shows that he is completely ignorant of the custom, rites and traditional practice of the people of Ga mashie and has no knowledge of even the reference book, M. J. Fields which talks about the Social Organization of the Ga People.
The meeting which did not end after the minister excused the delegation, continued with the deputy Regional Minister, Elizabeth Kwartso Sackey standing in for the minister but rather pleading with the delegation to mediate for an amicable settlement with Kelvin Tackie and people who were involved in the purported installation of the Ga Mantse for there to be a new Memorandum of Understanding to forestall peace in the capital of Accra especially during the upcoming Homowo festival celebration.
She further pleaded that government in particular her office will be ready to broker peace among the people of Ga mashie, because she being the daughter of the late Ga Akwashontse of the Ga State, Nii Kpakpa Blofonyo who was a royal blood from Asere Kpakpatse We and shares the same sentiments and concerns of the people of Ga mashie and their current challenging state of affairs due to their inability to unite to install a legitimate Ga Mantse.
She assured the delegation that she will avail herself to foster peace and unity among the people of Ga mashie for development in all our social, educational, economic and infrastructural development and well-being of the people of Ga mashie.
Nii Okai Awua II pleaded with the deputy minister that the truth of all the issues of the Ga Mantse should be maintained and administered for peace to prevail in the capital of Accra, just for once since the owners of the Ga Mantse Stool being the Abola Piam Royals have been denied their inheritance of the Ga Mantse throne for a long time.
He warned that for peace in Accra to prevail, the Ga Mantse Royal throne must be handed over to its custodians and rightful owners being the Abola Piam and Ayi Tunmma We Royals (Abola Tunmma We Clan) for these will be the only solution for peace to prevail in the capital of Accra Ghana over all issues in relation to the Ga Mantse throne in the face of justice.
