Pupils of the Akyim Hemang Presbyterian Primary and Kindergarten are the latest beneficiaries of Rakod Foundation’s community help project.
The Foundation, RAKOD which is a Not-for-Profit organization, has donated educational materials including over 3000 excercise books, pens, pencils, erasors, dustors and story books, mathematical sets, note books and RAKOD Branded back pack to enhance teaching and learning in Akim Hemang Presby primary and KG schools in the Eastern Region.
The gesture was made possible after an appeal from the Headmaster of the school.
Speaking to the media, founder of Rakod Mr. Randy Kojo Danquah mentioned that RAKOD Book Aid Project had provided educational materials for about 400 students between the ages of 5 and 12 who find it difficult accessing adequate school materials in Akim Hemang Presby primary and KG.
He noted that the Foundation which has done several projects access the country in the past, in areas of healthcare and social support for the Aged and Widows, also aim at aiding teaching and learning in all the regions across the country.
He said the the Foundation has improved the lives of many people in communities they sent their projects to, hence urged all stakeholders, individuals, entrepreneurs, and government to support the project to save children in the rural communities and to brighten their future.
The Headmaster for Akim Hemang Presby primary and GK school, Mr. Patrick Adjey–Afram expressed gratitude to the team for the gesture and prayers that, as Oliver Twist, they are asking for more.
He also made a call to other heads of schools in such deprived areas to lobby for support from organisations like RAKOD since government alone cannot do all.
The current situation of the School, according to the headmaster, is seriously threatening future admissions,t adding that the lack of proper class room blocks, computer laboratory, teaching materials have been a threat to regular school attendance.
The RAKOD Foundation team took the students through malaria prevention exercises and hand washing exercises.
